Music to Marvel By: Uncanny X-Men

Greg Land, artist of UNCANNY X-MEN, gives you a playlist of music to listen to while reading the series!

"These are songs I can listen to when working on art, driving, hanging around the pool or at the gym," Land explains. "I am a big fan of the 'Greatest Band in the World'...KISS. They have such a comic book/horror film look to them that they hooked my comic book/horror film teenaged mind and have enjoyed their music and shows ever since.  I am also a fan of the King...(I am a big fan of Jack Kirby) but in music, it is Elvis. The man can sing and his songs usually tell a story, like in 'Kentucky Rain' as he searches for a lost love."

"Many of the songs on this list have great driving beats and guitar riffs," Land elaborates. "I guess I am still stuck in the 'hair band' sound of the '70s and early '80s."

"I added a couple country songs as well," points out Land. "My father played country music along with songs from the '50s and '60s on our family road trips. I still have a place in my heart for these songs and enjoy mixing them into my music rotations for a change of pace. I guess in the grand theme of things, this is comparable to the pacing in the stories that I illustrate. Hard-hitting songs for the action scenes and the more melodic songs for the quieter parts of the story."
